THE COLOR OF SHADOWS

"The color of shadows has to do
with subtraction, scatter, and the distance that separates elements from the
source of light.
Outdoor designers take into account the
fact that because our eyes have receptors for Red,
Green, and Blue light,
we are able to perceive over a million colors.
Using the three primary colors,
designers can create Seven Shadow Colors: cyan, magenta, yellow, blue, red,
green, and black. Combine that with different textures of stone, pavers,
outdoor furniture, statuary, pergolas, even water features and the
possibilities propagate somewhere along toward infinity."
